Evidence of my new camera

For Christmas/Anniversary/Birthday, Nick got me a new camera! I think he was distressed about the lack of photos of our children (I hate using our old camera), and tired of my grumbling when I did use the old camera! Here are some pictures of the boys from today.

Cute kids! What kind of camera did you get?

Good luck with the possible move! I can imagine it must be hard with your family scattered across the country, and would be wonderful to get to live near them.

We got a Nikon D60. I honestly don't know as much about it as I like, but I am learning as I go. It is so much fun taking pictures with a better camera!

Also, if you have any advice on photography, I am all ears. I'm just barely starting to get to know the camera.

Thanks for the luck on the move. I am excited about the potential, but not so much about the reality. Moving a 3 bedroom/2 bath? Ugh.

I my 'nice' camera is a canon rebel, and older one is a canon s3 series. Nikons are really nice, but I have no experiance :)

Generally though, don't ever use a flash, use natural, indirect light. Don't use the auto focus. I'm sure there is a program mode of some sort, make sure your ISO is set low. This means that your photos will be 'larger' and less will fit on the card, but that you will have less grain in low light, and be able to crop and post process without loosing picture quality.

Really, it's about light! Good light makes great pictures with any camera. And crappy light makes even an expensive picture look bad.

I can't imagine packing up our house. We have lived here for over 4 years, with three kids. I think I would have a panic attack trying to organize it. The upside is that you don't have to worry about selling in this market. Maybe you'll be able to find a nice house to buy in Utah, I hear home prices there have bottomed out way worse than Texas.
